Knowing your skin type is important for finding out how to best treat your skin; not only to keep you skin clear and glowing but also to prevent premature aging. In this blog post you will learn two easy ways to find out what skin type you have. Like Sephora and other skin experts we differentiate between four main skin types:
1. Dry Skin
2. Oily Skin
3. Combination Skin
4. Normal Skin
Before you can find out what your skin type is, it is best to bring your skin into its most natural state: that means you should be wearing no makeup or anything else on your skin.
Here is how you do it:
First, remove all make-up you might wear on your face.
Second, wash your face like you normally do. Tip: don’t over wash your face, this might irritate your skin or dry it out.
Third, wait for about an hour, so that your skin can calm down and get back into its natural state.
Determining your skin type – The tissue test
This test will tell you whether you have dry/normal skin or whether you have oily or combination skin.
Simply take a tissue and gently rub it onto your t-zone (the t-zone is your forehead and your nose). Can you see any oil that rubbed of? If yes, you most likely either have oily or combination skin. If you have dry or normal skin, you will see no or hardly any oil rubbing off.
Determined your skin type – The pore size test
It seems quite strange, since everyone is talking about how to shrink the pore size. Now I am telling you that your sink’s pore size is related to what skin type you have. Here is the deal: The smaller your pores, the drier your skin tends to be. Hence, if you have large pores, that you can see when you take one or two steps back and look into the mirror, you are most likely to have oily skin. If you have to get very close to the mirror because your pores are so small you probably have dry skin.
Once you know your skin type it will be much easier for you to find the appropriate skincare products for you.
